- The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command has urged motorists in the state to always report any infractions of rickey or faulty vehicles to the appropriate authorities rather than just posting on social media.
This is arising from a recent trending video of an articulated 40 feet containerized vehicle along Ikorodu Road, Lagos.
According to a press release issued and signed on Wednesday evening by the Public Education Officer, Lagos Sector Command, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, while quoting the FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Olusegun Ogungbemide, such incident should be reported to FRSC via it’s Toll free number 122 or sent to any of the FRSC social media handles: Twitter or Instagram @FRSCnigeria or via Facebook.
“It should be noted that FRSC Lagos Command has 12 Unit Commands, 6 Outposts that can promptly impound such reported vehicle to avert causing calamities on the road”, part of the release said.
- Ogungbemide further stated that road safety is a joint responsibility and crashes can be averted if promptly reported to the appropriate authorities.
My questions are:- what is frsc police doing to arrest the unwholesome activities of street Urchins that are causing most of the accidents involving trucks day / night within Lagos metropolis. Drivers can’t stop if they noticed any infraction in transit, such as flat tyre or failure of any components which are inevitable to any mechanism including human. What is the agencies doing to curb the menace of some uniform personnel’s who sees trucks as ATM under the pretext of doing govt work, using govt machineries. No Lay-By, even if there is, you dear not, and failed portions on some of the roads are also contributing factor to some crashes. Though, Frsc are trying, but arresting, imposition of fine is not solution, but proactive in ensuring conducive environment that are voice of tormenting and militarization.
