Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zaria Command has recorded 1,128 accidents in the first 75 days in 2022, which is between January-March 16, 2022.
The Unit Commander, Abubakar Tata Murabus made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, the accidents were recorded in Zone 1 of the Federal Road Safety Corps which comprises of four States namely Kaduna, Katsina, Kano and Jigawa.
According to him, 121 deaths were also recorded within those days, adding that 536 travellers sustained various degrees of injuries, which he blamed on overspeeding, night journey, and overloading.
The commander also lamented regular accidents along Zaria-Kaduna highway, saying the Kaduna– Zaria–Kano road has the highest number of accidents.
He also explained how 10 persons died in a road accident at Tariyar Sarki, along Zaria-Kaduna highway, near Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic main campus on Saturday afternoon, just as he blamed the driver for over-speeding, overloading, and excessive smoking of marijuana.
