Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday affirmed his administration’s dedication to investing in advanced transportation solutions to align with global technological progress.
Represented by Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, at the National Transport Technology Conference and Exhibition held at Eko Hotel and Suites, the Governor emphasized the State Government’s commitment to investments in smart transportation solutions, such as traffic management systems, digital payment platforms, and real-time information services, aimed at enhancing travel efficiency and convenience.
A statement by the Public Affair, Lagos State Ministry of Transport, Bolanle Ogunlola (Mrs.) quoted the Sanwo-Olu Special Adviser saying “The State’s commitment to progress is evident in transformative initiatives, such as the Live Camera Update (LCU) Project, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Camera, Command and Control Centre for the state waterways (Search and Rescue), Lagos Rail Mass Transit Project, and many more, enhancing safety and transportation infrastructure” .
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, highlighted the pivotal role of transportation in Lagos’ thriving metropolis.
Mr. Osiyemi, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation Mr. Olawale Musa, emphasized the State’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of robust public transportation systems.
The conference, themed “Accelerating Technology for Safer, Smarter, and Sustainable Transport in Nigeria,” brought together key stakeholders from the transportation sector, providing a platform to discuss and showcase advancements in transportation technology.
Some of the stakeholders in attendance included the Representative of the Minister for Transportation and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Commissioners of Transportation from across the nation, representatives from Transportation Agencies such as the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Lagos State Ferry Service (LAGFERRY), Lagos State Bus Service Limited (LBSL), and participants from different parts of the country.
