The Lagos State Government has said it will continue to partner with the Nigerian Police Force to ensure that motorists move within the metropolis safely.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi made this know on Friday when the newly appointed Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade and his team paid a courtesy visit to the transport commissioner.
While welcoming the Police Commissioner, to his office, Osiyemi requested for a continuous collaboration with the police force in upholding the State Government’s stance on zero tolerance to traffic misdemeanors.
Osiyemi further stressed the need for more Policemen on the roads to prevent traffic robberies and ensure safety on the alternative routes, especially during the on-going Third Mainland Bridge repair and subsequent enforcement of traffic regulations on okada and wrong use of the transport infrastructure in the state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police disclosed that mandates have been issued to Divisional Police Officers across the Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the state to combat challenges mentioned already and changes are inevitable.
The Commissioner of Police reassured the support of the force in tackling the aforementioned challenges and also disclosed that the Police has formed a Committee with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Lagos State Neighbourhood Corp and other sister agencies to manage enforcements.
CP Fayoade assured that the collaborative efforts of the police and other bodies will make transportation safe, smooth and better than it used to be in the state.
