The Lagos State Government on Wednesday pronounced a total indefinite ban on commercial motorcycles operations, also known as Okada, in six local government areas of the state.
The Governor of the state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the ban during a meeting with police chiefs in the state, stressing that the nan is “total and indefinite”.
The affected local councils are Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, and Apapa, the governor said.
The ban will come into effect on 1st of June, 2022.
The ban is an aftermath of an ugly development in Lekki Area of the state at the last weekend when the Okada operators in the area lynched a DJ, killed and set him ablazed.
The police in the state has since arrested some of the operators in connection with the killing.
