There was pandemonium today Friday as residents and passersby in Agbado area of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State ran for their lives when two factional members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) clashed.
The union members clash is coming in less than three weeks after the Lagos State Government suspended their activities at Idumota.
It was gathered that the warring factions, who were said to be fighting over ticket collection fired gunshots at each other during the conflict.
The spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu confirmed the development, saying policemen have since been deployed to the area. “It was a brewing conflict over ticketing that would have led to a violent confrontation/crisis between two factions of NURTW in Kola Bus Stop area and its environs.
“Police patrol teams from Alakuko, Agbado, Ijaiye- Ojokoro and reinforcements from the headquarters have been deployed to the area on the order of the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi.
The police spokesperson said the area is now calm as the police are still maintaining their presence in the area.
